Roman Bath Ruins
Guided tour of the Roman bath ruins on 10 July
Anyone with an interest in history can experience the Roman bath ruins in a special way on 10 July. Dr. Petra Mayer-Reppert, an archaeologist and museum educational, is offering a 90 minute ramble through the Roman bath ruins at 2 p.m. with CARASANA Bäderbetriebe GmbH.
Even the Romans 2,000 year ago knew about the beneficial effects of the spa waters of Baden-Baden. They established the first spas in what was then Baden-Baden. One of these spas, known as Soldatenbad, is situated underneath the present-day historical Friedrichsbad and comprises floor and wall heating which has been maintained in an unrivalled condition.

Further information: after the Roman bath ruins had been closed to visitors for eight years, they were renovated and a new museum area was added. The ruins have been open to visitors since the end of 2003. They are open daily from 16 March to 15 November from 11 a.m. to 12 noon and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Water gymnastics
Mondays to Fridays at 11.30 am the guests of the Caracalla Spa are invited to join a 20-minute water gymnastics course free of charge. Under the guidance of an experienced therapist muscles are stretched and strengthened with exercises in the great indoor pool of the bath. The healthy thermal spring water of Baden-Baden has a supportive effect and offers resistance. The density of water is a lot higher than of air and requires an increased effort but the strain on the body is released by the lifting power of the water. Joints, tendons and the spine are conserved and additionally you train the respiratory muscles through the reciprocity of the water pressure. In contrast to many other sports, water gymnastics trains the whole body and not just parts of it.
